It’s Monday again! Here is the discovery of the week. Not just patterns from one blogger, but patterns from a whole community of crafters! The site is part of an online portal by Excite (which I had no idea was still around), for women. Going to the main site http://atelier.woman.excite.co.jp/ you can find links to different parts of the portal. There are all sorts of craft related categories, from art, zakka, knitting, handmade cosmetics, beads…. and more. Sewing is part of the Knits,Handicrafts and Sewing category which alone has 585 pages at the moment. It is further broken down into sub-categories such as felt, crochet etc. But let’s just focus on Sewing projects.
All the patterns are contributed by users, and there are more than 200 pages to browse through. Clicking on the thumbnail will bring you to the project page, the navigation is pretty straightforward. As the projects are all community contributions, the standard of the project instructions and patterns may vary. But as there is a voting system in place, many of them try to make their tutorial as user-friendly as possible and some even have step by step photographs instructions like the one below. There are also some that are just pure text, so I usually skip those 😛
Note that the link to the pattern (if used) is usually a very small icon under the Materials (see arrow above), so if you don’t look carefully you might miss it!
If you like the projects, do vote! The above voting bar is just under the main photograph of each project page. You don’t have to login or create an account, it’s as simple as making your choice of vote and clicking on the purple button. Once you have voted, the status will be set to “voted” so you can’t vote twice for the same project.
It’s a big site to explore, so have fun browsing for inspiration!
