Free Japanese Sewing Patterns – Maternity and Kids goods

Today’s free pattern is mostly about bags. Lovely lovely bags, made from beautiful fabrics with very practical designs. The free patterns are from a blog called こだわり出産・育児グッズ http://goods-baby-kids.seesaa.net/ The title actually means Childbirth and kids goods. Check out her free patterns + how-to make posts.

Love love love the animal print on the bottom right. Can anybody identify it? I’ve never seen it before! It may not be Japanese because I notice she is a big fan of Marimekko 😛 But I’m pretty sure it’s not from the Marimekko line. Anyway, let me know if you know what it is.

I love the fact that there are so many compartments, with proper zippered or drawstring enclosures which ensure that even when Mummy’s bag is overflowing, things stay in 🙂 The last picture on the bottom right have extra long handles to be suspended across the two handles of a stroller. I hardly use a stroller now but I know from experience, how useful that will be.

Some of her blog posts are not patterns, but rather, detailed explanations (with pictures) For example, there is one on how to attach a zipper to an internal pocket, or how to attach the pieces of fabric to form the drawstring bag enclosure.

Just click on the links to load the PDF pattern. The .txt format for the instructions is great because if you load it in one of those browsers with auto-translate, you can get it translated into English. Not perfect, but certainly helpful 🙂 If you click on her pictures, they go to a larger view on another website (something like an image sharing site) where the photos from the same blog posts are also posted as well. So you can see the pictures up close, which is always useful when trying to make sense of of the instructions.

I am really tempted to try the large horizontal granny bag, as well as the one with the drawstring top. Too many things on the sewing wish-list as it is!!!
