Today’s free pattern find came from my search for a doll’s dress pattern for my girls.
One of the best toys I’ve bought them is this Japanese doll called Mell-chan メルちゃん This doll is the sturdiest doll they have ever had. Every other doll they have had over the years have fallen apart, lost limbs, got their hair tangled up. What’s more, you can actually bring this doll to the bath and there is a little hole at the bottom which allows the water to drain out. There are lots of outfits available for sale but they are not cheap in Singapore, so I usually buy them on my trips to Japan or I’ll make them myself!
Anyway, back to the free pattern site 🙂
The pattern came from this website called Cotoro.net which is a site of free patterns. There are no patterns for garments, but more for little handmade goods such as zakka items, bags, aprons, pouches and dolls clothes. Check out the crochet accessories holder! I wish I had such pretty crochet needles 🙂
Check out the little dinosaur drawstring pouch at the bottom corner too. Great gift for a little boy/girl who loves dinosaurs! I might make the little kimono next for Mell-chan if I can find pretty Japanese fabric on my next trip (in June!)
Lots of little quick projects here to do. And the good thing about this website is, not only is it easy to find the pattern for download, there are step by step photographs guiding you through the sewing.
Happy Sewing!

I know! I love the dolls. It’s the right size for my 4 yr old, but my 8 yr old has one too and they still want more because their dolls want new friends! lol 🙂
Such a cute book. With 3 boys, I was only able to sew for them when they were little. Now that they are all in elementary school, it isn’t “cool”. Now I can sew bags all the time!! I’m bummed I missed your sew-a-long. For some reason our new e-mail didn’t feed your blog to me until it was over. I hope you do one again soon 🙂 Cindy in Florida
You can still sew-along to the instructions! What sew-along should I do next? I really want to do one from a book but not sure if doing a girl’s dress will be that useful for everyone, because I have lots of girls books 🙂
Help please, how do I download the patterns?
